The Darien Nature Center offers many enriching after-school programs all year long, providing hands-on opportunities for children with our 20 species of animals and nature. The fall session runs from September 18 to December 15.
- Animal Caretakers Club for Grades 2-6,kids learn how to chop salads, clean habitats, and exercise animals to ensure happy and healthy animals. Available on Mondays or Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 PM, $432, membership required.
- Animal Encounters for Grades K-1, young kids particularly interested in animal life will work with and learn about different animals each week. Available on Tuesdays or Fridays from 4:00-5:00 PM, $432, membership required.
- Out in the Wild for Grades 2-5 meets on Thursdays, September 21, 28, and October 5, 12, and 19, from 3:30-5:00 PM, $270, no membership required. Focusing on survival skills, this five-week course is for young adventurers ready to learn outdoor cooking, building shelters, fire safety, knot tying, orienteering, cooperative games, and explore the stream, woods, and pond of Cherry Lawn Park.
- Outdoor Explorers for Grades Pre K-1 meets on Wednesdays, September 20, 27, and October 4, from 3:30-5:00 PM, $162, no membership required. Children suit up to explore the great outdoors during this three-part series. Each month will have a different theme, but all sessions will include hikes, games, exploration, science experiments, stories, and campfires! Watch for more dates each month.
