Darien Library Author Lecture: Free-Range Kids | February 6th

On Tuesday, February 6th at 7 pm, the Darien Library is hosting a free speaker event with author of Free-Range Kids, Lenore Skenazy. She is co-founder of Let Grow, a nonprofit promoting childhood independence as the key to resourcefulness and resilience. Register your spot on the Darien Library Event page!

We all love our kids, but in the past generation or two, something strange has happened: The same parents who were allowed to ride their bikes till the streetlights came on  — and loved it! — won’t let their own children out of their sight. If you’ve wondered how this happened (not your fault!), what it’s doing to kids, and the connection between supervision and anxiety, here’s your chance to find out! You’ll also hear how all of us can fight the excess fear our culture is shoving down our throats.

Lenore’s lecture is smart, funny — and life changing. Parents leave with new confidence in their kids, their parenting, and the world. AND their cheeks hurt — because they’ve been laughing so much.
