On the night of the event, families and teachers/staff will come together as a community to share traditions, food, activities, and important aspects of our heritage. Families or groups of families will “host” a table that displays one or more aspects of their heritage. Attendees can walk around from table-to-table checking off each station in their “passport program” while tasting, viewing, and learning from each other.
The format is open to creative interpretation, and does not need to be limited to countries of origin. For example, volunteers will be hosting tables that include Cincinnati food and sports, Sicilian food and culture, Boston family traditions, a Hindley History table, and Darien history table to name just a few.
How to get involved?
- Attend! (Save the date)
- Host a table (we still have room for about 10 more)
- Spread the word
- Have your children submit art or a poem to be displayed at the event (more info to come on this)
- Send us a favorite family song! We will compile a “Hindley Playlist” to share with the community on Spotify
We hope this event not only brings together our community in a meaningful way but also provides a fun activity for parents to connect with their children. We are looking for volunteers to help us. Some of the jobs don’t require you to attend the event. Click HERE for our Signup Genius to volunteer
